“This confident blues and soul singer/songwriter is putting a new twist on the melodic and soul fuelled music that she loves. With a highly competent backing band, Al Brown has a voice and an attitude that is rarely found in much of today’s music” - National Student Music Awards

Al Brown was born 29th May 1985 in Kuwait City. Al Brown spent her early life there until she move to Brighton in 1991. During her Childhood years she was exposed to styles of music from various cultural backgrounds. By the age of 13 she became particularly interested in the great singers and musicians of the memorable jazz and blues era such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and more recently influenced by artists such as Stevie Wonder and Ben Harper.

In 2003, she began studies at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music which allowed her to immerse herself in music whilst reaching academic aspirations. Within a few months she teamed up with guitarist Dan Lundholm and began writing and performing acoustically around the well known hotspots of Brighton including ‘The Sussex Arts Club’ and the numerous venues along Brighton beach.

By 2005 a backing band was formed and Al Brown is succesfully performing original material, reminiscent of the great bygone era along with selective covers of a more contemporary feel that is all her own. Venues such as ‘The Joogleberry Playhouse’, ‘The Sanctuary Cafe’ and ‘The Sussex Arts Club’ pay host on a regular basis
